about

The word 'hazelverse' is taken from the book 'The Fault in our Stars' by John Green. The book was a peek into the universe of a person, just like 'The Catcher in The Rye' for example.
According to John Green, books help people grow a sense of sympathy because you see things from a different perspective in a very intimate way.

Anyway, back in 2014, when I wrote the song, I was growing a sense of sympathy for myself too, self-reflecting abilities I guess. Seeing my actions from the perspective of a floating mind in the sky instead of from a body on earth helped me deal with extreme emotions. Yay for books!

lyrics

lyrics:

Littlest star, wake up, put on a light.
All these questions. Oh, the endless night!
Littlest star, come to your window now.
Read all of the pages of your diary out loud.

Because I seem to lose myself in all this flesh.
And there's anger here and it all seems to make sense.

Littlest star, shed light on the oldest days.
Do all of our trees come from the roots that you made?
Littlest star, why should I need four eyes to see
All of the magic in the world at my feet?

Because I seem to lose myself in all this flesh!
And there's loving here and it all seems to make sense.

Littlest star, you will outlive my flesh.
But that something is passing doesn't mean it's worthless.

Initially, Lohmann’s homespun songs channeled feelings of alienation and desire in abstract fashion, drawing comparisons to artists such as Phil Elverum, Sufjan Stevens, Conor Oberst and Elliott Smith. ... more
